Homage watches are legal as long as they do not carry the name or trademarked terms or names of the original maker which no watches in this video do.

  1. Just goes to show how good the Chinese brands are now. That coast is terrible for this money.

  2. I own the yellow dial Divingstar version of the Sub200. I love it. It has tons of visual interest and it looks so much better in the metal on the wrist, than it does in photos or video. If you are looking for a fun, playful skin diver that has heritage and Swiss made, this guy is hard to beat.

  3. I had an original Doxa, but I couldn't use it as a backup diver, the lume was terrible, the hands lume disappeared in 15 minutes. Now, I'm hearing complaints that the new one has hands that last a bit longer but the dial goes dark. I sold my Doxa a long time ago and looking at this won't be buying another. It's sad to say this but from what I've seen, the Seestern homage is actually better than the original.

  4. Hi Gary! I have had my eye on the teal version on teal rubber strap for quite a while. Doxa seems to have the brand locked down and can't find a deal on one yet. Glad to see you reviewing thousand dollar watches for a change. The one to two hundred dollar ones all seem to have the same movements and homage type looks. Although not perfect, at least Doxa has an original look and appeal. I have about 12 of the ali types and find that I just don't wear them as much as the originals they mimic.

  5. This is a really cool watch by DOXA. Something a bit different from the iconic SUB 300. And that orange is beautiful. But I am too disappointed by the lume. I think it's one of the most important parts of dive watch. I don't see the use in creating this DOXA orange because it's the most legible underwater but then foregoing a proper lume application.

  6. Underwhelming lume and cheap looking clasp is a deal breaker on a watch at just shy of 1k, and at 42mm it's a bit on the big side. If it was 40mm, great lume, decent clasp, and a tapered bracelet, I'd be thinking seriously about it, as it is now it's an easy no.

  7. Can i be honest. I think Doxa take the wee wee. Overpriced, overnostalgised ( made that word up) underlumed, egotistical. I know I am talking about a watch, but that is how i felt when trying one on. Sorry Doxa fans its just my opinion.

  8. It's a lovely looking watch, however I would never spend that sort of money on it. I'd get the AliExpress homage 😆

  9. I really like the look of this watch – I would love to see the Alix brands branch out and make a lyre lug case like this one

  10. Very nice looking watch. I like the orange dial. It looks good on the bracelet but I would prefer it on the orange strap. Thanks for the video Gary.

  11. It is a great colour and strap combo – I think I'll give Heimdallr's orange sharkey a second look. (Shame it isn't in the sale!)

  12. It's an attempt by Doxa to add a more attainable and less bulky alternative to the SUB 300 T. They do have in common that the clasps are a bit lacklustre. I think the Seestern homage to the SUB 300 T is a good alternative.
